Facebook Engine Drives A Community Organization Website

Facebook built an incredible social network. Now, businesses and community organizations are learning to tap into that amazing network.

With Facebook's Business Page concept, companies can now extend their brands into the Facebook community in a rich and simple way, blending users and apps to create an entirely new interaction model with their consumers. T.A. McCann, an entrepreneur and Web 2.0 consultant who's worked with ZeroDash1, writes about this in his blog.

However, one of the most interesting uses for the Facebook platform has been made by a local non-profit organization, Korean American Coaliton - Washington State.

With some of its members already on Facebook, the organization's webmaster Roi Kim saw a vision for how to make the non-profit's website more interactive and much easier to manage content. Now, the Photo's from events, News and Announcements, Events Calendar, Discussion Board, and even the "Wall" for public comments are through the Facebook platform. In addition, Roi put a "language translation" component so all content can be translated from English to Korean. Now, that's useful creativity.

This certainly makes keeping dynamic and timely content up on the website very simple and interactive. For a non-profit organization with volunteering members, such simplicity in a familiar platform has substantially improved the quality of information on the website. Roi is really onto something. He is definite proof that the Facebook platform is successfully attracting bright minds to build innovative solutions within its environment. In the end, that's a winning formula.
